Submission Text
The proposed coal terminal in Longview is not a good idea for Washington state in the long-run. I have lived in Washington state for 42 years, traveling up and down the Columbia River and value this waterway as central to salmon habitat as well as the Tribal harvest of salmon. The terminal and the associated trains along the Gorge would damage the healthy waters our state has worked so hard to maintain. We cannot risk potential accidents along our coast. Coal is an old fossil fuel and is not in our future of dealing with climate change. The Chinese do not need this product as their air quality is already at risk. Coal companies and associated transportation companies would profit at the huge cost to Washingtonians and our world.
