Moving this project forward is important to me, my family and my community. Coal is not toxic especially in regards to the elements / minerals contained in coal. Coal is not toxic in water coal is not soluble and chemical bonds are only released through burning. The DOE approved water treatment facility at the old Reynolds aluminum site (now MBTL) has large water filters that contain anthracite coal to clean the water. The final water polishing step before being discharged to the river is coal and has been for decades. No further study is needed! Cowlitz County is fraught with uncertainty. Millennium’s proposal, however, offers all the economic benefits of a long-term port facility without any of the uncertainty. Coal is needed by other countries to help shape their future and enhance their quality of life. Let's give other countries the living standards we have for ourselves.
