Our environment is important to our quality of life, but equally important is the ability to make a living. The proposed coal export terminal in Cowlitz County will strike the right balance between environmental stewardship and economic growth. It should be allowed to move forward. This project is exactly the kind of economic boost that the state really needs. The benefits are numerous. The terminal would create jobs, generate significant new tax revenue, and help attract businesses to our area. In many ways, it can be a source of continued growth for years to come. It is tough to believe that a project with an obvious upside like this has been held up for so long. Those in charge should view this project for its benefits to the community and see it through to the finish. Our citizens are counting on it. The agencies are doing a great job of evaluating Millennium Bulk Terminals port proposal. I am convinced that this project’s permit should move forward without further delay.
