Submission Text
I'm a Realtor and Planning Commissioner for the City of Longview. I serve on the board of Acts 9 and the Sister City Commission also. My wife and I are environmentally conscious. We recycle, share an economical car, and take many other regular, basic steps to respecting mother earth. We usually vote democrat and recently cast our vote for Bernie Sanders (for his socialist democratic ideas and NOT his environmental ideals). With that being said, we are STRONG proponents of the Millennium Bulk Terminals coal terminal project in Longview, which also happens to be where we reside, work, and where we were both born. No, we're not just a couple of yahoos that got bribed by an environmental interest group. (Many of those yahoos showed up by bus at the recent hearing in Cowlitz County). I've read as much as I can find on the Coal Terminal proposal and I can't find a good reason to deny it. I'll be able to hear, and possibly see it from my house. Does this excite me? No. I don't like the idea of the noise and dust it will create, but I know that A. it will vastly improve transportation and infrastructure to our industrial core. B. it will provide much needed construction jobs. C. it will provide a good number of permanent jobs, and D. it will add millions to tax revenues. Let's be sensible and build this terminal right away! Let's capitalize on cleaner coal!
