Comment #7 -Train Noise Noise from unit trains through the City of Longview can be a health issue for people living along the rail lines. Four at-grade crossings will be made by coal unit trains coming into and out of the proposed project site for 24 hours each day. After a presentation before the Longview City Council on Millennium's proposed project, Ken Miller, then President of Millennium Bulk Terminals, telephoned me to answer a question that I had written on a card and was not answered due to time limitations. My question was regarding the noise from whistles of coal trains coming into and out of the coal terminal. Mr. Miller said that Millennium would fund improvements to make upgrades of the at-grade crossings so they would become "quiet" crossings. Shouldn't the word of the President of Millennium be a testament to the proponent's commitment to mitigate the health impacts from deafening train whistles in the middle of the night?
